#21 – Mudslide in Uganda

There has been a serious mudslide in far eastern Uganda.  The mudslide has taken place near the border of Uganda and Kenya at Mt. Elgon in the Bududa district.  This is roughly 180 miles from where Lynne currently resides, so she is fine.

Ugandan mudslide location v. Gulu - 180 miles apartCaused by heavy rains, some think the mudslides were exacerbated by farmers who stripped the land of many trees and vegetation.

There is not much aid for people living in there, so please keep the people in your thoughts and prayers.

I am SO glad you and Jo, Marian and the others are safe in Gulu! I read the attached BBC article and the situation sounds perilous –mudslides not over yet. Is the map you included one of those from Google -am assuming it is. Yes, we will be thinking and praying for you and the many who are actually in the midst of this devastation. Am also anxious to hear about your trip to put Jim on the plane for home and how you and Jo enjoyed the drive back to Entebbe. Love as always, Cec

  2. We are all glad you are okay and safe! Safe travels as you head home next week.

  3. When I first read the news about the slide, I was wondering where it was in relation to you and Jo. Thanks for the map.

It’s hard to believe you are about to leave there. It seems like you just got there. We look forward to your return.
